Unidentified mammal: an alarmed wren alerted me to a predator amongst a pile of rocks at NM379466. I only caught brief glimpses as it slinked under boulders but it was small and had a stripe or stripes somewhere or other. I half expected a kitten to emerge but nothing did. Perhaps the stripe was the mask of a Polecat. Are there wildcats on Mull?
