Chiffchaff: 25th March 2012 (Reudle)
Manx Shearwater: 1 April
Swallow: 7th April
Common Sandpiper: 8th April
Willow Warbler: 9th April
Blackcap: 10th April
Arctic Skua: 10th April
Cuckoo: 13th April
Whinchat: 24th April
Sedge Warbler: 24th April
Tree Pipit: 24th April (Loch Frisa). The only local site is at Kilninian which I under visit. I survey Loch Frisa twice a year but at a fixed date
Whimbrel: 26th April
Whitethroat:: 28th April
Common Tern: 3rd May (earliest photographic record on 6th June)
Grasshopper Warbler: 4th May (only one years records)
Spotted Flycatcher: 6th May
House Martin: 6th May
Swift: 6th May (does not breed on Mull
Arctic Tern: 7th May
Wood Warbler: Insufficient data. Breeds at Quinish, Salen and Tobermory which I under visit. My earliest date is 9th May at Quinish
Pomarine Skua: 9th May at Quinish (passage migrant-2 records at Treshnish 23rd May & 6th Sept)
Turtle Dove: 11th May (only record with a date but seen in previous years)
Corncrake: 11th May (from only 2 years)
Osprey: 13th May (only 3 records)
Quail: 31st May (only 2 records)
Garden Warbler: 3rd June (only 2 records)
Redstart: 13th August (our only record at Reudle)

Birds of Treshnish and North Mull is a compilation of my personal observations from 2006-2012, public records on mullbirds website and published records. The book would have been incomplete without the records submitted by Mull birders, either to the Argyll Bird Club or to Alan Spellman at mullbirds website and also the valuable work of the Treshnish Isles Auk Ringing Group. To all those I give my thanks.
The hardback book is 72 pages and the magazine is 92 pages both with photos of 60 species. It is basically a list of records by species up until December 2012, arranged so the most detail is given to the most scarce. Records of uncommon species are often arranged by season and site. Species status is given for both Treshnish and (where different) north Mull and, where relevant, labelled by rarity within Mull, Argyll and Scotland.
An appendix gives lists of the species which the newcomer might be surprised to learn are rarities on Mull and Argyll, some of which need detailed description to gain acceptance. North Mull birders are still looking for a Lesser Whitethroat!
